Pi Water began to spread in Europe at the the beginning of the nineties. It is ordinary tap water at which the physical structure was changed by means of various devices for water treatment.

Almost a year and a half has passed since the whole world was shaken by the case of melamine in foodstuffs originating in China. Chinese farmers with the awareness of Chinese producers added melamine to milk in order to conceal its unfavourable nutritional values.

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority in cooperation with the Customs Administration of the Czech Republic detained a consignment of instant noodles from China.

On the basis of suspicion of the State Institute for Drug Control the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority carried out inspection aimed at the food supplement intended for enhancing potency called Intim-x produced in Slovakia. The inspectors took samples of the batch labelled LOT 0021208 with the date of minimum durability 12.2011 into laboratories to verify if it does not contain healing substances which are banned for foodstuffs.

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority revealed another dangerous food supplement for erection support. This time, product Golden Erect originating from the Netherland was in question. The product was imported by VaV trading company, Ltd, whereas ODK Magnum, Ltd. running e-shops with food supplements was the only purchaser of this product.

Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority runs its inspections based on risk assessment principles, i.e. the focal point of inspections are commodities at risk on the food market. Criteria for making a decision on inspection are findings from previous inspections or actual findings of inspectors in the fieldwork. Besides that CAFIA responds to findings of other public authorities, consumer suggestions and mass media as well as consumer associations.

According to law half-fermented wine can be sold only from the beginning of August to the end of November. As in previous years also this year the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority carried out inspections aimed at this beverage in the course of the whole period. Inspectors controlled not only hygiene of sale and documents about origin of half-fermented wine, but also whether the beverage is correctly labelled at the stand, mainly if producer is visibly stated.

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority revealed two further food supplements which were ascertained to be harmful to health. In both cases, imported products were concerned and the Food Inspection Authority banned their further sale and ordered their withdrawal from the market.

This year's season of half-fermented wine is already finished as according to the law, this beverage may be sold only until the end of November. The last but one results of this year revealed three further cases of adulterated half-fermented wine.

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority banned sale of Vietnamese instant noodles as laboratory tests revealed that these noodles contained aluminium in the amount exceeding the limits set by the Ministry of Health for similar sorts of pasta.
