CAFIA issues a general measure in connection with contamination of infant formula

04/17/2026

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA), pursuant to Section 5(6) of Act No. 146/2002 Coll. on CAFIA, issues a general measure prohibiting all food business operators who sell food to consumers in the Czech Republic from placing the following food products on the market:

Happy Mimi 1 infant formula, powdered infant milk formula for infants from birth (if not breastfed) up to 6 months, weight 400 g, date of manufacture: 28 July 2025, best before: 28 July 2027, batch: Batch 3418;

Nutrilon PRO futura DUO BIOTIK 1, infant formula 0–6 months, weight 800 g, best before: 5 November 2027, production date: 5 November 2025, code next to BBD: 111572333;

Nutrilon ADVANCED GOOD NIGHT 1, infant formula 0–6 months, weight 800 g, best before: 10 November 2026, code under BBD: 111511173.

The detection of the cereulide toxin in the above-mentioned quantities exceeding the acute reference dose (ARfD) established by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has led to these products being assessed as harmful to health pursuant to Article 14(2)(a) of Regulation (EC) No 178/2002.

Following these findings, CAFIA had already previously ordered the operators concerned, in whose establishments the non-compliant batches were identified, to immediately withdraw the batches from the market. However, since it cannot be entirely ruled out that the above-mentioned hazardous food products may still be present at other retailers, CAFIA has adopted this general measure as a preventive step, prohibiting all food business operators selling food to consumers in the Czech Republic from placing the specified batches on the market.

Compliance with this general measure may be checked by all inspectorates of the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority at any food business operator selling food to consumers.

The full text of the general measure is published on the official notice boards of all CAFIA inspectorates as well as on their electronic notice boards (see the CAFIA website).
