The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) found five non-compliant lots of green tea originating from Vietnam, weighing a total of 130 kg, as a part of its ongoing inspections of imported foodstuffs. The detection concerned presence of up to six pesticide substances exceeding the limit in each sample. The products in question were as follows:

Genuine green tea labelled “Hoa Nhai Jasmine Green Tea”, brand name “Tan Cuong Hoang Binh”, packaged à 100 g, best before date (BBD): 06/10/2024. The lot failed during the analysis for the following pesticides: acetamiprid - detected: 0.22 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg), limit: 0.05 mg/kg; dinotefuran - detected: 0.035 mg/kg, limit: 0.01 mg/kg; permethrin - detected: 0.70 mg/kg, limit: 0.1 mg/kg.

Green tea marked “Hoa Nhai Jasmine Green Tea”, brand “Tan Cuong Hoang Binh”, packaged  à 100 g, best before date (BBD): 06/05/2024. The lot failed during the analysis for the presence of the pesticide: acetamiprid - detected: 0.15 mg/kg, limit: 0.05 mg/kg.

Green tea labelled "TRÁ XANH Dac San Green Tea 100% Natural", brand "Tan Cuong Hoang Binh", packaged à 100 g, best before date (BBD): 09/03/2025. The lot failed during the analysis for the following pesticides: acetamiprid - detected: 0.16 mg/kg, limit: 0.05 mg/kg; chlorofluazuron - detected: 0.11 mg/kg, limit: 0.01 mg/kg; dinotefuran - detected: 0.039 mg/kg, limit: 0.01 mg/kg; fipronil - detected: 0.023 mg/kg, limit: 0.005 mg/kg; imidacloprid - detected: 0.38 mg/kg, limit: 0.05 mg/kg; tolfenpyrad - detected: 0.28 mg/kg, limit: 0.01 mg/kg.

Genuine green tea labelled "TRÁ XANH Dac San Green Tea 100 % Natural", brand “Tan Cuong Hoang Binh”, packaged à 100 g, best before date (BBD): 22/03/2024. The lot failed during the analysis for the following pesticides: acetamiprid - detected: 0.50 mg/kg, limit: 0.05 mg/kg; Chlorfluazuron - detected: 0.10 mg/kg, limit: 0.01 mg/kg; fipronil - detected: 0.013 mg/kg, limit: 0.005 mg/kg; imidacloprid - detected: 0.33 mg/kg, limit: 0.05 mg/kg; tolfenpyrad - detected: 0.045 mg/kg, limit: 0.01 mg/kg.

Green tea labelled "Hoa Sen Lotus Green Tea", brand "Tan Cuong Hoang Binh", packaged à 100 g, best before date (BBD): 12/12/2024. The lot failed during the analysis for the following pesticides: acetamiprid - detected: 0.37 mg/kg, limit: 0.05 mg/kg; dinotefuran - detected: 0.081 mg/kg, limit: 0.01 mg/kg; imidacloprid - detected: 0.26 mg/kg, limit: 0.05 mg/kg; tolfenpyrad - detected: 0.28 mg/kg, limit: 0.01 mg/kg.

The above mentioned lots of non-compliant teas were detected by CAFIA inspectors at the premises of company NTH FOODS s.r.o., Libušská 319/126, 142 00 Prague in the SAPA market.

The inspectors seized the teas before distribution to final consumers. CAFIA ordered the operator to dispose the teas in question.

The supplier is company AZURA HA NOI SERVICES TRAINING COMPANY LIMITED, No. 7, Alley 53 Yen Lang, Trung Liet Ward, Dong Da District, Hanoi City, Vietnam.

CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure with the inspected person to impose a fine.
