The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) banned placing of the following foodstuff on the market: “Prestige Hyper Hazelnut, Toast dipped (33%) "Hyper" with hazelnut cream (51%)”, packaged à 55 g, with best before date by: 16/08/2022, lot: L061336, manufacturer: Prestige-96 AD, Bulgaria, Veliko Tamovo 5000, 6 Dalga Laka Str., Bulgaria.

Laboratory analysis confirmed presence of 675 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) of peanuts in the foodstuff in question. The manufacturer stated on the labelling, inter alia, “The product may contain traces of peanuts.” However, this detected amount is several times higher than the amount regarded as unintentional cross-contamination, i.e. traces of peanuts.

CAFIA inspectors took the non-compliant food sample at the premises of company QueChoa s.r.o., Sylvánova 187, Horšovský Týn 346 01. The distributor of the foodstuff is company Gemini DO s.r.o., Sabinova 153/4, 72100 Ostrava, Czech Republic.

This food concerned may pose a significant health risk to people with peanut allergy or intolerance. CAFIA recommends all consumers suffering from peanut allergy or intolerance that they do not eat the given lot of the foodstuff.
