CAFIA ordered to withdraw imported adulterate liver pâté

10/13/2020

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) ordered company Tesco Stores ČR a. s. to immediately withdraw adulterate foodstuff Tesco Paštika s husími játry (pâté with goose liver) packaged à 100g with best before date by 13th May 2022, made in Poland. Tesco has to withdraw the product from all its branches.

As regards the share of meat ingredients, the labelling provided, inter alia, following information: goose liver (32%), pork liver (12%). However, laboratory analysis confirmed presence of protein originating from chicken liver of which presence was not stated on the labelling and the foodstuff is thus misleadingly labelled as regards its real content.

CAFIA ordered to immediately withdraw the product from retail network and will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the inspected person. At the same time CAFIA enters information into the European system for fight against adulterate foodstuffs AACS facilitating further investigation of the case in the country of origin of the foodstuff concerned.
