The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) detected another lot of imported meat product from abroad at which laboratory analysis proved adulteration or lower content of meat compared to the information on the labelling. The product was found on the domestic market.
CAFIA took the sample of the non-compliant lot at the premises of Tesco Stores ČR a.s., Příborská 2270, Frýdek-Místek 738 01. Following foodstuff was concerned: Morliny Berlinky made from chicken meat, chicken sausages homogenised, smoked, packaged à 250 g, with best before date by 21.04.2019, lot: L: 3150294620, producer: Animex Foods Sp. z o.o. sp.k., Morliny 15, 14-100 Ostróda, Oddział w Morlinach, country of origin: Poland.
The producer stated on the labelling that the meat content was 84%, however, CAFIA laboratory analysis proved presence of meat amounting to 74.1% only. Information on the labelling was thus misleading as regards the actual food composition, and European Regulation No. 1169/2011 on the provision of information to consumers was thus violated as regards misleading of consumers.
CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the inspected person.
This year CAFIA detected an increased number of adulterated meat products from abroad. Summary of these findings is available on the CAFIA websites in the Press Releases section.
