CAFIA banned confectionary product unsafe for allergic persons

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) found uncompliant foodstuff “TRUBIČKY plněné krémem s kakaovou příchutí“ (confectionary product - sweet rolls filled with cream with cocoa flavour), best before date by: 30th September 2019, producer was not specified, country of origin: Poland. The product was found at the premises of Jednota spotřební družstvo v Uherském Ostrohu, Náměstí 17. listopadu 1543 Strážnice.

The analysis carried out by CAFIA proved presence of allergen – peanuts amounting to 7,882 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg). The producer state on the labelling: “The product may contain traces of sesame, peanuts and further shell nuts.” With regard to the fact that the concentration of peanuts exceeds more than 300 times the amount approvable as “traces”, it is a foodstuff that may represent a significant health risk for persons with allergy or intolerance to peanuts.

Within consumers protection, CAFIA ordered national-wide measure to company Jednota spotřební družstvo in Uherský Ostroh, Veselská 733, 687 24, Uherský Ostroh to withdraw the given lot from all its branches.

CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the inspected person and will continue with further inspections of this assortment.
