Within current intensive inspections targeted at the truth of provided information on the origin of beef and correct provision of information to consumers by public catering operators, the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) detected another case of misconduct regarding provision of information on the origin of meat.
Misleading of consumers as regards the origin of beef was revealed in Prague restaurant Grill Restaurant, U Michelského lesa – Grill Eat s.r.o., namely in 2 cases of offered meals.
- Severoamerický hovězí Flap (North American flank steak): check of purchasing documents revealed that the beef originated in Australia.
- Severoamerický hovězí hamburger, opečené brambory (North American hamburger with roasted potatoes): labelling of the raw material showed that the meat was of Czech origin. At the same time the use by date of the meat was expired.
Based on these detections, the inspected person re-labelled the offer and CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine.
