The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) detected two cases in which consumers were misled. Meals offered by Prague public catering operator “Restaurace Kebab Atlas Montes” selling the meals on www.damejidlo.cz were concerned.

Doner Kebab Atlastelecí maso and Pizza Atlas Monteswith veal kebab which were supposed to contain veal, were concerned. The inspections revealed that they were made from raw material under name “Kebab z mletého masa MARDINI – Mleté maso navléknuté na otočný rošt s kořením ala Kebab (hluboce zmrazené)“ (Kebab meat from minced meat MARDINI – minced meat on a grate with spices ala Kebab, deeply frozen). Only 15% of veal was contained, however, the ingredients were as follows:

Veal 15%, beef 20%, turkey 30%, veal fat 15%, chicken meat 8%, spices (mustard, celery), flavor enhancer: monosodium glutamate, stabilizing agent: guar gum, sodium dihydrogen phosphate,  triphosphate, dextrose, spices (maltodextrin, aroma, celery), aroma, smoking aroma, wheat flavour, yeast, soya protein, thickener: cellulose, glucose, frozen onion, lactose, powdered vegetables, ground onion, dried herbs, hydrolysed plant protein.

Hassan Ait Tahar based on Koněvova street Nr. 958/69, 130 00 Prague is the operator of the establishment.

CAFIA ordered the inspected person to immediately remove misleading information from the website and will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the operator.
