The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) did not release onto the internal EU market a consignment of 18,300 kg of non-peeled peanuts originating from China. The fact that the identification codes of the consignment on the packaging – bags failed to comply with the identification codes in accompanying documents that were supposed to prove safety of the foodstuff caught attention of the inspectors that carried out an inspection in the customs warehouse in Rudná near Prague. The importer thus showed results of sampling and analyses which, according to the codes, did not match with the really imported lots of peanuts. The importer thus violated the European Regulation No. 884/2014 laying down conditions for import of selected foodstuffs from certain countries resulting from the risk of presence of aflatoxins.
Based on these facts, CAFIA issued a binding statement, on which basis the consignment cannot be released onto the market in the CR, and the consignment thus could not threat final consumers. Ing. Bohumil Kratochvíl – IBK TRADE was the purchaser of the consignment in the CR and now he has to destroy it or export it outside the EU territory, e.g. into the country of origin.
