Petr Kašpar, Director General of the GDC and Martin Klanica, Director General of CAFIA today, signed today a new Agreement on Co-operation between the General Directorate of the Customs and the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority. The aim of the Agreement is to lay down detailed rules of mutual co-operation and provision of information between CAFIA and the Customs Administration during the execution of official inspections. The co-operation concerns in particular inspection of foodstuffs imported from third countries and destined for other EU countries, and ensure thus relevant protection of the market both in the CR and EU. Mutual co-operation comprises, inter alia, necessary precautionary measures in case of foodstuffs that may pose a serious risk to humans and foodstuffs for which specific conditions related to import onto the EU territory shall be applied. The Agreement on information exchange also applies to foodstuffs intended for export outside the EU territory in order to prevent export foodstuffs that are unsafe or fail to comply with legislation.
The Agreement between CAFIA and GDC was signed in 2004 for the first time and is re-established, extended and particularised on regular basis. Current results of the co-operation between CAFIA and GDC are available in CAFIA press releases of
