During an inspection of assortment largely sought before Christmas, the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) detected 4 lots of dried fruit unsuitable for human consumption in premises of company Tesco Stores ČR a.s.. Following products of company ENCINGER, spol s r. o. Jadranská 13, Bratislava were concerned:
- Basket Ivana – mix of dried fruit 66%, confectionary products without chocolate 21%, and sweet fruit 13%, best before date by: 16th May 2015,
- Basket Renata – mix of dried fruit 82.5% and confectionary products without chocolate 17.5%, best before date by 15th May 2015,
- Basket Maria – mix of dried fruit 91% and confectionary products without chocolate 9%, best before date by 17th May 2015;
- Basked MIX12 – mix of dried fruit, best before date by 24th May 2015.
CAFIA also found presence of rodents inside of 100% of packagings which were visible by naked eye, namely on the fruit (dates, apricots, plums) and internal part of the cellophane packaging. All packagings were characterised by unpleasant smell after fermentation, in case of some packagings even through the closed packaging. Based on the facts mentioned above, CAFIA declared the foodstuffs in question as unsuitable for human consumption and ordered company Tesco ČR a.s. to withdraw them from its whole retail network. CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the inspected person.
