The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) found unsafe food supplements that were placed on the market in specialised shop run by Pavel Trampota on Sousedská street 9 in Plzeň, 312 00. Following products are concerned:
- Tribulus Terrestris 90% saponins packaged à 150 + 20 capsules, lot: TT901301. By a laboratory analysis, CAFIA proved presence of prohibited substances 1-dehydroandrostenedion, which is anabolic androgenous steroid amounting to 0.103 mg/kg and psychoactive substance tetrahydrocanabinol (THC) amounting to 0.749 mg/kg. Company Vito Life Ltd, 2 Redhouse square, Northampton, NN3 6WL, Great Britain is the producer of the lot in question, while company NICOL pharma s.r.o., Plovární 478/1, 301 00 Plzeň is the supplier.
- Amix Per4max booster packaged à 500g, lot: L859#020514. By a laboratory analysis, CAFIA proved presence of progesterone amounting to 13.8 mg/kg. However, legislation forbids presence of this steroid hormone. Company Large Life is both producer and supplier of the foodstuff in question.
With regard to the presence of forbidden substances, the lots of food supplements in question fail to comply with requirements for food safety pursuant to Regulation (EC) No. 178/2002. CAFIA ordered to immediately withdraw the non-compliant lots from retail network including the Internet sale and will initiate an administrative procedure with the inspected person on imposition of a fine.
