The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) closed the shop owned by A Ton Tan in Staré Hradiště in district of Pardubice. The inspection carried out on 3rd November revealed numerous violations of hygiene requirements. Mice droppings were reported in extraordinary extent, even in the shelves with both packaged and bulk products intended for immediate consumption, and posed thus high risk of contamination. The outside fenced area for storage of bakery products before arrival of employees also failed to comply with hygiene standards. This area neither provided appropriate protection against outer influences nor prevented access of e.g. birds, rodents or insects. Waste management also failed to comply with legislation as the seller used cartoon boxes to dispose mixed waste including leftovers. CAFIA further detected overall neglected conditions of the premises including filthy equipment, floors and walls that were smeared by dust and leftovers.
With regard to the violations mentioned above, CAFIA stated multiple violation of European Regulation No. 852/2004 on food hygiene and imposed a ban on using of the premises. CAFIA also ordered the operator to ensure immediate rodent extermination, proper cleaning and to put the premises in line with requirements of legislation. CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure with the inspected person.
