CAFIA closed part of central warehouse of DC Kaufland in Olomouc

09/19/2014

Due to serious violence of hygiene requirements, the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) imposed a ban on using of a part of the central warehouse belonging to company DC Kaufland České republika v.o.s based on Týnecká street 814/65 in Olomouc.
The inspection carried out on 18th September revealed presence of mouse droppings on the floors under pallets and between them as well as filth in the lower parts of the rack system. Presence of living mice was found in several spots of the warehouse as well as traces after their activities – gnawn cardboards and containers with foodstuffs. Foodstuffs with the damaged containers were removed from circulation and were prepared for disposal.
Based on the violation of legislation, particularly Regulation (EC) No. 852/2004, CAFIA banned using of the premises for putting foodstuffs into circulation. CAFIA also ordered to carry out immediate steps to remedy the deficiencies which will be verified by a follow-up inspection.
CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the inspected person.
