CAFIA closed bakery Lomanská pekárna in Františkovy Lázně

08/28/2014

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) imposed immediate ban on using of producing and selling premises of bakery company LOMANSKÁ PEKÁRNA s. r. o. on Americká 32/71, 35101 Františkovy lázně. During an inspection carried out on 27th August, CAFIA revealed significant violation of hygiene regulations. CAFIA found, inter alia, large amount of rodent excrements and a body of an adult mouse in an advanced state of decomposition, which besides other traces, points to irregular and completely weak cleaning and rodent extermination in these premises. CAFIA further detected occurrence of living flour moths in the flour storage.
The situation implies that contamination of present raw materials and foodstuffs is possible as well as that these foodstuffs could be unsuitable for human consumption. The food business operator has not introduced any appropriate procedures for pest regulation and violated thus Regulation (EC) No. 852/2004. From these reasons, CAFIA ordered company LOMANSKÁ PEKÁRNA s. r. o. to close the premises down, to remove all damaged foodstuffs and raw materials, and to bring the overall condition of the premises into accord with requirements of legislation. CAFIA will lift the ban only upon the imposed measures are met, which will be verified within a follow-up inspection. CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the operator.
