Laboratory analysis carried out by the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) showed presence of unauthorised pharmaceutically effective substances in foodstuff for specific nutritional purposes AMIX GuggulLean. The Inspection Authority took sample during an inspection at premises of Josef Bukvic in Ohrazenice near Trutnov that was also the producer of the assortment in question.
The analysis proved presence of 1-dehydroandrostenedione amounting to 5.57 mg/kg and progesterone amounting to 754.7 mg/kg in foodstuff AMIX GuggulLean packaged ŕ 90 capsules with best before date by 1. 8. 2016 sold by Large Life Limited, Prague. Presence of both substances in foodstuffs is unequivocally unauthorised by legislation. As regards dehydroandrostenedione, it is an anabolic steroid in the meaning of forbidden substances indicated on the list of forbidden substances and doping methods for 2013. Further 2 lots of the foodstuff in question were made of the same raw material with best before date by 20. 8. 2015 and 2. 5. 2016. Placing foodstuffs containing unauthorised substances on the market, the operator violated European Regulation No. 178/2002, and CAFIA therefore ordered the inspected person to immediately inform its domestic and abroad customers as well as to withdraw the unwholesome lots from the market. Further investigation revealed that 3 non-compliant lots comprised 1.516 pieces of consumer packages in total, out of which 905 packages were already dispatched to the customers.
CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the operator.
