The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) repeatedly found serious violation of hygiene regulations at the premises of Penny Market s. r. o. on Akademika Bedrny street in Hradec Králové. Today’s inspection detected traces of rodents’ presence, in particular mice, excrements, and several packages of flour damaged by mice. Presence of rodents at the whole premises is significant violation of hygiene requirements and Regulation (EC) No. 852/2004. Because the premises failed to meet requirements enabling food unwholesomeness, CAFIA imposed ban on using the premises and on putting foodstuffs into circulation. This ban will be applicable until the premises enable safe sale of foodstuffs and contamination by rodents is removed.
Traces of rodents were detected at the premises in question already during the inspection carried out on 26th February 2014. CAFIA found violation of hygiene regulations of less serious nature and extent and the operator was only ordered to carry out a thorough and effective sanitation and rodent control. Due to the detections found during the inspection today, rodent control cannot be regarded as effective. CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the inspected person.
