Food Pillory available also for iPhone

12/02/2013

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFA) launched on 2nd December 2013 mobile application “Food Pillory” for smart phones Apple iPhone. The mobile application is thus available for smart phones with the most frequently used operating system in the CR. CAFIA already launched versions for Android and Windows Phone that have been installed by more than 11,000 users so far.
Consumers can now submit a suggestion to the nearest CAFIA Inspectorate via their mobile phones, e.g. if they find out a deficiency in a food shop, and the Inspectorate in question will deal with this matter. They only have to enter section called “Submit a suggestion”, briefly describe the deficiency, the food business premises or take a picture of the unsatisfactory product, and the application will send the suggestion to the competent CAFIA Inspectorate. This is the most comfortable and the fastest way how to submit a suggestion which complements the other ways, i.e. by phone, by e-mail, in written form or personally. Since September 2013, when the application had been launched, CAFIA has dealt with more than 50 suggestions submitted via mobile phones.
The Food Pillory provides continuously updated database of unsafe, adulterate and poor quality foodstuffs detected during official inspections carried out by CAFIA. Over 1,300 lots of unsatisfactory foodstuffs were published in the database since June 2013.
