Ahold withdraws contaminated bottled water

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) ordered company AHOLD Czech Republic, a. s. to withdraw bottled water unfit for human consumption from distribution network. Based on sensorial assessment in the retail, CAFIA found out that bottled water Aquila neperlivá pitná vodanon-sparkling drinking water packaged ŕ 1,5 l with best before date by 2nd August 2014, producer: VESETA spol. s.r.o., showed organoleptic deficiencies – green haze and green sediment were visible in the bottle. Due to the contamination with a foreign substance, CAFIA assessed the foodstuff as unsuitable for human consumption pursuant to Regulation (EC) No. 178/2002. By means of the imposed measure, CAFIA ordered company AHOLD Czech Republic, a. s. to withdraw immediately the non-complying lot of bottled water. CAFIA recommends all consumers they do not consume the lot of bottled water in question.
