Due to extensive and serious violation of hygienic rules, the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (hereinafter CAFIA only) imposed ban on the use of the premises area of SPAR Česká obchodní spolčnost s.r.o. based on Náves 671, 76001 Zlín – Prštné. During its inspection on May 14, 2013 CAFIA detected five spots of pests’ presence, four in the store area and one in the facilities area. Traces of rodents’ activity particularly mouse excrements and eaten foodstuffs were found on the shelves with salted bakery, flour, pasta, in the section of healthy and organic food and food for diabetics. Confectionaries with visible mouse eaten pieces were found in a bin with discarded and expired foodstuffs. Moreover, inspectors found excrements on pallets and near to walls in the storehouse of dry foodstuffs.
CAFIA stated that the Regulation (EC) 852/2004 was violated by the premises operator particularly by breaching hygienic practices including insufficient protection of foodstuffs against the contamination. Operator of the premises adopted unsatisfactory measures of pest control. Inspection Authority immediately imposed ban on the use of the premises and also ordered to discard of all foodstuffs potentially contaminated by pests’ presence. CAFIA further ordered the premises operator to provide immediate rodent extermination in all affected areas and to undertake general cleaning of the store and its facilities.
After repeated inspection of fulfillment of the measures the Inspection Authority has lifted the ban today on May 15, 2013. For the above mentioned violation of legal provisions CAFIA will launch an administrative sanction procedure.
