The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) ordered VERDANA company to inform immediately all its clients about the fact that spirit drink named Original Tuzemák produced by Likérka Drak company cannot be regarded as safe. The measure applies to all consumers’ packagings and alcohol contents of product Original Tuzemák with label of Likérka Drak company which have been distributed by VERDANA company since 1 January 2012. In compliance with applicable food legislation (Regulation No. 178/2002, Artile 19), the sellers shall therefore ensure withdrawal of the spirit drinks in question back to their facilities. The Inspection Authority further ordered VERDANA company to withdraw these spirit drinks from its clients by 26 October 2012 at latest.
CAFIA imposed the measure above as a consequence of detection of the extraordinary high concentration of methanol in spirit drink with label and tax stamp of Likérka Drak company – Original Tuzemák, 40% of alcohol in bottles ŕ 0.42 l.
CAFIA recommends all consumers who have these spirit drinks at home not consuming them.
