On 12 January, the employees of the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority in Brno participated in the first training within the Managerial Training System to Enhance Capacity and Efficiency of the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (SYMAN) project, registration No. CZ.1.04/4.1.00/58.00001, which is funded through the Operational Programme for Human Resources and Employment (OP HRE) under the framework of the European Social Fund. The planned project budget exceeds the amount of CZK 3 million, of which 85 % is financed by the OP HRE.
Within following 10 months, the representatives of the middle and top management will take part in 9 various trainings focused in particular on the improvement of their managing capacities. The set of the workshop comprises for example time and stress management, managerial skills, management of working meetings or motivation of subordinate persons. The programme of the single trainings is organized differently for the middle and top management in order to reflect specific needs of the managing persons. The whole training programme will be concluded by a two-day teambuilding where all participants of all trainings will meet. Approximately 60 CAFIA employees holding managing positions will participate in this educational programme. This is a first project at CAFIA within which framework a complex set of follow-up trainings is provided to the employees which is, at the same time, focused on managing competencies.
The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority has a positive balance in gaining funding from the European Union. In the late 90´s we were particularly successful in utilization of PHARE grants; since joining the EU in 2004 have been actively using the Transition Facility funds. For cross-border cooperation with Austria, Slovakia and also with Saxony, additional EU funds have been requested. The grants were invested mainly in equipment purchase (e.g. inspection laboratory instruments), computer technology, on-going education and training of staff, exchange visits, development of a common information system among the Czech surveillance bodies and to implement the quality management system at CAFIA.
