The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority received through the RASFF system warning against the spread made from tomatoes dried in the sun, olive-almond spread and against other products made by French company La Ruche. Foods were not distributed to the Czech Republic, but it is not excluded, that they might be brought by tourists visiting France or that they might be purchased through online shops from abroad. Bacteria Clostridium botolinum type A producing botulinum toxin were found in spreads. France has reported eight people with symptoms of poisoning so far.

CAFIA strongly warns against consumption of products made by company La Ruche, especially against brands Les délices de Marie Clarie, Terre de Mistral and Les secrets d´Anaďs. Bacteria were identified in products named as “Tardinade de tomates séchées” and “Tapenade verte aux amandes”, packaging of 180 g, lot number 112005, use by date 16/12/2012.
