The National Reference Laboratory for E. coli and shigella of the National Institute of Public Health finished today the laboratory analysis of bacteria Escherichia coli detected by the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority during official inspection in bottled water with trade name "Aquila Aqualinea" in the lot with best before date by 20.5.2012.
According to the results of the laboratory analysis, detected strains of E.coli do not pose an imminent risk. Neither Shiga toxin producing E.coli (STEC) nor serotype O104 : H4, which is, according to the present information, responsible for the recent outbreak in Germany, are thus concerned.
In spite of this, occurrence of these bacteria is not admissible in bottled water according to applicable standards. The measures imposed by CAFIA related to the withdrawal of the lot mentioned above therefore remain valid.
