Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority in Brno has launched implementation of the “Managerial Training System to Enhance Capacity and Efficiency of the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority” project, registration No. CZ.1.04/4.1.00/58.00001, which is funded through the Operational Programme for Human Resources and Employment (OP HRE) under the framework of the European Social Fund.
The project team proposed a basic scheme of a project upon the No. 58 call for proposals, priority axes No. 4 - Public Administration and Public Service, which was announced by the Ministry of Interior. After necessary amendments to match the interests and needs of the CAFIA as well as  the requirements of the call, the project was approved. In the autumn of 2010 additional administrative procedures took place prior to its launching in 2011. The target group of this project is the middle and top management of CAFIA and the emphasis is on strengthening their managerial competence.
The project is built on a series of related trainings dealing with managerial skills, soft skills for middle and top management. Trainings will take place in 2011 and be continued in 2012.
The planned project budget exceeds the amount of CZK 3 million, of which 85 % is financed by the OP HRE.

Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority has a positive balance in gaining funding from the European Union. In the late 90´s we were particularly successful in utilization of PHARE grants; since joining the EU in 2004 have been actively using the Transition Facility funds.  For cross-border cooperation with Austria, Slovakia and now also with Saxony, additional EU funds have been requested. The grants were invested mainly in equipment purchase (e.g. inspection laboratory instruments), computer technology, on-going education and training of staff, exchange visits, development of a common information system among the Czech surveillance bodies and to implement quality management system at the CAFIA.
