One of the Lidl shops had to be closed down

02/24/2011

Last week the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) informed that two shops in the Central Bohemian Region had been closed from the reason of non-complying sanitary conditions. This week inspectors revealed another case of similar serious deficiencies.
The shop of company Lidl Česká republika v.o.s. in Prostějov on Újezd street was concerned. Not only mouse droppings but also live and dead mice were found at the whole premises as well as at the background. The shop smelt after rodents very intensively. Some foodstuffs were bitten by mice.
It is the responsibility of every operator to prevent food contamination during all marketing stages and keep hygienical way of sale. The sale under the described conditions is absolutely inadmissible.

The shop was immediately closed down with respect to the deficiencies mentioned above. Reopening will be possible only after the approval of CAFIA that will be given after all detected deficiencies will be removed and sale of safe foodstuffs and hygienical conditions in compliance with legislation will be ensured. Administrative proceeding will be initiated with company Lidl Česká republika v.o.s.
