CAFIA banned an unsafe fat burner

02/11/2011

Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) conducts effective and long-term checks of food supplements offered on the Czech market. During recent inspections of internet sale, CAFIA inspectors found a food supplement containing yohimbine.

An ADIPOKILL product (packaging of 108 capsules, lot No. 01353405110) was imported from U.S.A. This product is declared as a multifunctional fat burner and is offered particularly to athletes. The product, which had been originally intended for distribution outside the Czech market, was imported into the CR by the SCITEC Nutrition Company Ltd., Kyjov in amount of 27 packs, i.e. 2916 capsules.

Ministry of Health classifies yohimbine among the substances with a strong pharmacological effect. It can only be sold to consumers possessing a valid prescription. Food supplements and food for athletes, which are “over-the-counter” items, do not allow the addition of yohimbine.

Given the facts above, the ADIPOKILL was banned and the product recall was ordered. CAFIA is warning those, who have already purchased this product, not to consume it.

Search results related to this product were sent to the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) to warn consumers in other Member States of the European Union.
