CAFIA laboratory analyses showed that another batch of infant water Horský Pramen failed to comply with requirements of legislation. Namely, it is a batch with best before date by 29.7.2010, again in 5 litre packaging. No toluene was detected in infant water in question, as in the first case (
see the Press Release of 5.3.), but it contained other foreign organic substances (e.g. trichlormethane, dichlorbrommethane, dibromchlormethane, and organically bound halogens). These substances are present again in very minute amount, however, according to legislation, they must not be present in packaged infant water in any detectable value. Analyses also revealed presence of free chlorine in this batch, although any substances, except for carbon dioxide, must not be added to infant water.
However, the laboratory did not reveal any deficiencies in any other barrel of the same batch, which means that the batch in question is very non- homogeneous. In spite of this, the Inspection Authority does not recommend the consumers consume the products of this batch in case they had them at home.
Measures imposed already last week referred to the identified batch of infant water Horský Pramen, i.e. at the present time, the batch in question is not placed on the market, and it is not possible that consumers could buy it in shops.
The producer of Horský Pramen, company Jesenické Prameny Nová Pláň, a.s., fulfils all the measures imposed by CAFIA – placing of all further 5 litre batches on the market was suspended and all purchasers were notified of its withdrawal. Now the effort of the producer and the Inspection Authority is to find the source of the contamination.
