Not even the so-called Pi Water can promise healing or preventive effects

02/18/2010

Pi Water began to spread in Europe at the the beginning of the nineties. It is ordinary tap water at which the physical structure was changed by means of various devices for water treatment. Distributors of these devices assign a range of other characteristics to this water (e. g. that it is identical with amniotic fluid, enhances the energetic transfer of cosmic and earth energy through the human organism, by means of treatment to Pi Water the water harmonizes, e. g. the information transferred by means of water is eliminated). However, from the legislative point of view only potable water with the trade name Pi Water is concerned. In the CR it is still sold directly by producers in PET bottles for individuals or in barrels as refreshment to companies.
Like any other foodstuff, not even Pi Water is allowed to present the information suggesting its healing or preventive effects in marketing communications, advertisements or on its label these days. Also claims invoking in consumers the impression that by consuming the foodstuff concerned, the risk of a certain disease will be diminished, are with a few exceptions forbidden. These very claims and information relating to Pi Water were in the centre of attention of the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority. The inspectors checked the instructions for use and websites of 40 companies or sole traders engaged in production or distribution of Pi Water. On the grounds of CAFIA controls disallowed health claims were removed from nine websites and six instructions for use were corrected. In three cases it was found out that the producer or distributor had not fulfilled his legal obligation and had not notified CAFIA of his activity.

CAFIA is lawfully competent to check neither the advertisement nor advertisement leaflets, however it can control labelling of proper foodstuffs or information which is directly connected with food sale, i. e. on instructions for use or websites of e-shops.
