In response to the case of milk products contaminated by melamin that had appeared in China, already in September the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority began to focus its controls more on foodstuffs of Chinese origin containing a milk ingredient. Since that time the inspectors have been detecting if these foodstuffs cannot be found in common shops. At the same time more controls have been carried out in Asian market halls and shops specialised in Asian foodstuffs. So far about 350 controls have been carried out.  

In case the inspectors, during these controls, encountered foodstuffs from China or other Asian countries that could have been manufactured from Chinese ingredients and that have been declared to contain milk, milk protein or dried milk, they took samples of these products for laboratory analysis. Up to this day eleven samples have been taken – waffles, instant or ice coffee, bonbons in milk, but predominantly sweet pastry.  

The results of eight sample tests are already known. All of them have been determined as safe because none of them contained an exceeded limit of melamin. Sampling will further continue.

Orion Choco Pie – waffles, country of origin: Vietnam
Instant coffee 3 in 1 – instant coffee, country of origin: Vietnam
