The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) identified, during a routine food safety inspection, two batches of herbal tea containing approximately 5–6 times the permitted limit of pyrrolizidine alkaloids. CAFIA strongly advises all consumers who may have these batches at home not to consume them. The affected food batches are as follows:

Allnature BIO Children's Bronchial Tea with Mallow, BIO Children's BRONCHIAL Tea (Allnature BIO Dětský čaj Průdušky se slézem. BIO Dětský čaj PRŮDUŠKOVÝ), batch number: VPC003060C, best before: 03/2028, place of inspection: Allnature, s.r.o., Březhradská 148/3, 503 32 Hradec Králové.

Analysis carried out by CAFIA's accredited laboratory confirmed a total pyrrolizidine alkaloid content of 441 µg/kg (micrograms per kilogram) in the sample. The maximum permissible level established by legislation is 75 µg/kg. The operator therefore breached Commission Regulation (EU) 2023/915 by exceeding the maximum limit for this contaminant.

Allnature BIO Children's Bronchial Tea with Mallow, BIO Children's BRONCHIAL Tea (Allnature BIO Dětský čaj Průdušky se slézem. BIO Dětský čaj PRŮDUŠKOVÝ), batch number: VPC002377A, best before: 10/2027, place of inspection: Allnature, s.r.o., Březhradská 148/3, 503 32 Hradec Králové.

Analysis carried out by CAFIA's accredited laboratory confirmed a total pyrrolizidine alkaloid content of 405 µg/kg (micrograms per kilogram) in the sample. The maximum permissible level established by legislation is 75 µg/kg. The operator therefore breached Commission Regulation (EU) 2023/915 by exceeding the maximum limit for this contaminant.

Pyrrolizidine alkaloids are substances known to have adverse effects on human health and may act as genotoxic carcinogens.

CAFIA has ordered the immediate withdrawal of the non-compliant batches from the market and will initiate administrative proceedings with the inspected operator to impose a fine.
