Consumer warning: Salmonella detected in fresh turkey drumsticks from abroad

07/09/2026

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) is warning consumers about a non-compliant food product:

Fresh TURKEY lower drumsticks, fresh cut poultry meat, vacuum-packed, packs of various weights, Quality Class A, use-by date: 08/06/2026, batch number: 2605273022, country of origin: Poland, additional information – veterinary approval number (veterinary oval): PL 14263902 WE.

Laboratory analysis confirmed the presence of Salmonella bacteria in the above-mentioned batch of the food product. These bacteria are the causative agents of salmonellosis.

Since the product has already passed its use-by date, it is no longer available on the market. However, CAFIA strongly recommends that all consumers who may still have the product stored at home in a frozen state do not consume it. Freezing has practically no effect on bacterial contamination.

Inspectors took a sample from the non-compliant batch at the premises of Lidl Česká republika s.r.o., Folmavská 3035/8, 301 00 Plzeň.

CAFIA will enter a notification regarding the detection of the non-compliant food product into the European Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) so that further investigation can be carried out in the country of origin.

CAFIA will initiate administrative proceedings with the inspected entity regarding the imposition of a fine.
