CAFIA closed Tesco in Aš

09/04/2018

Serious violation of hygiene regulations was detected by inspectors of the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) at the premises of Tesco Stores ČR a.s. in Chebská street in Aš.

With regard to the fact that the premises failed to comply with minimum requirements for ensuring food safety of offered foodstuffs, the inspectors had to impose a ban on the use of the premises.

Underestimating rodent control measures in a long-term horizon was the most significant violation. Mice droppings were found at the selling area and in the background. Contamination of displayed and stored foodstuffs could not thus be excluded. Presence of rodents in food premises is unsafe in particular because of the risk of dissemination of dangerous diseases.

Apart from the ban on the use of the premises, the inspectors ordered the operator to put the premises into compliance with legislation, in particular to carry out proper rodent control, ensure the premises against further access of rodents and to remove impurities. The premises will stay closed until these measures are fulfilled.

CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the inspected person.
