Checking meat products sold as so-called unique offer in leaflet campaign of Penny Market in March 2018, CAFIA inspectors detected systematic adulteration of an outstanding extent. Significantly lower proportions of meat were revealed by laboratory testing in five lots of meat tins made by Pamapol S.A., Wielunska street No. 2, 97-438 Rusiec, Poland:
SÝPKA Šlechtická Maso ve vlastní šťávě (meat in juice), 300g, BBD: 22. 02. 2020 L2315
Food labelling stated 89% of pork content, however, the laboratory analysis detected 63.9% of meat only.

Food labelling stated 86% of meat content, however, the laboratory analysis detected 68.7% of meat only.

Food labelling stated 86% of meat content, however, the laboratory analysis detected 66.9% of meat only.
CAFIA Director General, Martin Klanica, points out that: “The practice of certain operators on the market who achieve prices attractive to consumers due to adulteration of the content decreasing the proportion of the most expensive ingredient and selling these products in large amounts in so-called leaflet and discount campaigns is regarded as entirely unacceptable.” Current detection of five non-compliant lots of similar products made by one producer shows that this is not a coincidence and that certain operators use adulteration as a tool in competition struggle. CAFIA will continue in inspections of this kind with the same intensity through the whole food spectrum.
CAFIA ordered the seller a provisional measure to have further lots of products “Sýpka šlechtická Maso ve vlastní šťávě” and “Sýpka šlechtická Maso šlechtické se šunkou as well as similar products, thus “pork tins” made by Pamapol S.A. Poland, tested in an accredited laboratory before placed on the market on his own expenses and consumers thus could not be misled.
CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the inspected person.
