Warning for consumers: Salmonella in minced pork and beef from Poland

03/09/2017

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) notified into the European Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) detection of deficient foodstuff, namely of minced meat mix 100% beef – pork packaged à 500 g with use by date by 5th March 2017, producer: Zaklady Miesne Henryk Kania S.A., Oddzial w Mokrsku, Mokrsko 343, 98-345 Mokrsko, Poland. Laboratory analysis confirmed contamination by bacteria Salmonella.

The inspectors sampled the product in distribution chain of company Lidl České republika v.o.s. The foodstuff was labelled by “use by date by: 5th March 2017” and it is not available in retail network anymore. However, CAFIA strongly recommends consumers who may have the product at home in frozen state that they neither eat nor unpack it and they should return the product into the place where they bought it. Possible freezing has practically no effect on bacterial contamination.

CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the inspected person.
