The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority has already informed about a potential damage, physical depreciation or complete destruction of foodstuffs in the areas under water in the Czech Republic. Potential damage may be caused not only to food that people kept on hand at their homes but also to food in production companies, warehouses and shops. Equally, the premises handling with food might well be also damaged.

Therefore, all the relevant territorial CAFIA inspectorates are prepared to commence immediately assessment of the manufacturing, selling, storage and other places in which foodstuffs are produced or stored. The inspector will issue, free of charge, certificates of fitness of particular premises for the food production or for other handling with food. As to the requirements of insurance companies, the certificates may be issued also for the purposes of impartial damage evaluation.

The inspectors will also issue expert opinions on specific foodstuffs and the possibility of their release into circulation and use, but only if it is clearly established that the foodstuffs did not get in direct contact with floodwater.
