What do I have to do before commencing production and sale of foodstuffs, from the point of view of CAFIA?

CAFIA checks only production of foodstuffs of different than animal origin. Supervision over production of foodstuffs of animal origin is fully under responsibility of the State Veterinary Administration of the CR – http://eagri.cz/public/web/en/svs/portal/.
Production and sale of foodstuffs is regarded as operation of a food business. As a “food business” is regarded a public or private enterprise, no matter whether profitable or non-profitable which carries out activities related to any stage of production, processing and distribution of foodstuffs.
General obligations of food producers and sellers:
  1. Both producer and seller shall have authorisation to conduct a business.
  2. Registration: It is only a notification duty laid down by Section 3 of Act No. 110/1997 Coll. Registration form could be found under this link (Notification of the food business operator on the commencement/termination of the performance of the subject of business). The completed form shall be sent to the local Inspectorate in the place of business of your company. Territorial responsibility of CAFIA Inspectorates including relevant contacts is available on CAFIA website in “Organisation Structure” section.
