06/21/2018

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) detected another case of Polish apples containing pesticides exceeding the limit. The apples were found in the retail network. This is already fourth case of such detection of Polish apples this year.

Results from the CAFIA accredited laboratory confirmed presence of pesticide chlorpyrifos exceeding the permitted limit in a lot of bulk apples of Gala variety, lot: V805223456, country of origin Poland. The lot was sampled in AHOLD Czech Republic, a.s., Přemyslovců 1, Nový Jičín.

Apples contained residues of pesticide chlorpyrifos amounting to 0.20 mg/kg which is 20 times higher than the maximum permitted limit, which is, according to legislation, 0.01 mg/kg.

Company Bakker s.r.o., Měchnov 33, Divišov was the supplier of apples into the ČR.

CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the inspected person. CAFIA informed of the previous cases in its press releases of 23. 2. 2018,   15. 1. 2018, 5. 1. 2018 and of 30. 11. 2017.
