CAFIA found further Polish apples with pesticides

In the course of latest months the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) has detected already several cases of sale of apples containing pesticides exceeding the permited limit.

Results from the accredited CAFIA laboratory currently confirmed presence of pesticide chlorpyrifos exceeding the limit in a lot of bulk apples of variety Idared, lot L0202, country of origin: Poland. The sample was taken in MAKRO Cash & Carry ČR s.r.o., Olomoucká 791, 783 53 Velká Bystřice.

The maximum limit permitted for presence of pesticide chlorpyrifos is 0.01 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg), however, the analysis confirmed presence of pesticide amounting to 0.19 mg/kg.

Company Olymp Fruit s.r.o. from Turnov was the supplier of the apples concerned into the CR.

CAFIA entered the information into the European Rapid Alert System RASFF and will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the inspected person. CAFIA has already informed of similar cases in its press releases of 15th January 2018, of 5th January 2018 and of 30th November 2017.
