The accredited laboratory of the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) detected presence of contaminated apples on the Czech market. The apples were contaminated by unauthorised amount of pesticide chlorpyrifos. 1,560 kg of apple variety Prince distributed from Poland were concerned.
CAFIA took sample at the wholesale premises of company big.fresh.fruits.r.o., K Radotínu 492, Prague 5.
0.01 mg/kg of pesticide chlorpyrifos is the maximum limit laid down by legislation, however, the laboratory analysis confirmed concentration amounting to 0.066 mg/kg, which is six times higher.
Polish company P.H.U. Tompol Rafal, Tomicki, ul. Stibrawska 17, 54-211, Wroclaw was the supplier of the goods. Accompanying documentation showed that the inspected person was not able to trace and identify further circulation of the non-compliant foodstuff on the Czech market.
This detection was notified into the European Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF). CAFIA will also initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the inspected person.
