CAFIA warns against unsafe preparations MMS and CDS

07/24/2015

Products labelled as Mineral Miracle Supplement (MMS) and Chlorine Dioxide Solution (CDS2) are offered to consumers on websites in Czech language and social networks. Information related to these products inform on health benefits of their consumption or healing effects as regards a wide range of diseases including cancer. The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) strongly warns all consumers that the substances contained in these products are banned in food industry and shall not be used even in low concentrations. According to experts, foodstuffs with substances contained in MMS and CDS2 were regarded as unsafe for humans.

Substances in the preparations in question are used for example for disinfection of water in pools or bleaching of fabrics. Sellers offer these products as chemical substances, not as food additives or medicaments and they are subject to strict regulation. Some consumers can get false impression that these products are effective and safe as these products are associated with information on their alleged health effects. This warning has already been published by CAFIA in its press release of 2010.
