CAFIA detected food consignments from Cambodia with cocktail of pesticides again

The inspectors of the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (SZPI) in cooperation with the Prague - Ruzyně Customs Office found two shipments of foodstuffs of plant origin in which a laboratory analysis confirmed presence of a cocktail of four or two pesticide substances over the permitted limit. The total weight of the detected non-compliant foodstuffs is over 213 kg. The following foodstuffs originate from Cambodia are concerned:

  • Basil HÚNG QUY - SWEET BASIC, lot number: LOT - T04, importer: TAOKIM s.r.o., Prague, country of origin: Cambodia, lot size: 175 kg.

The analysis performed in the CAFIA accredited laboratory confirmed the presence of pesticide residues in the foodstuff in question: chlorfenapyr amounting to 1.9 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg, limit: 0.02 mg/kg), isoprothiolane amounting to 0.071 mg/kg (limit: 0.01 mg/kg), propiconazole (sum of isomers) amounting to 0.32 mg/kg (limit: 0.02 mg/kg) and valifenalate amounting to 0.059 mg/kg (limit: 0.01 mg/kg).

  • ỚT ĐỎ - RED CHILLI, lot designation: LOT - T04, importer: TAOKIM s.r.o., country of origin: Cambodia, lot size: 38.5 kg.

The analysis performed in the CAFIA accredited laboratory confirmed the presence of pesticide residues in the foodstuff in question: chlorpyrifos amounting to 0.35 mg/kg (limit: 0.01 mg/kg) and triazophos amounting to 0,081 mg/kg (limit: 0.01 mg/kg).

CAFIA inspectors ordered the non-compliant lots to be withdrawn from the market.

CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure with the inspected person to impose a fine.
