The inspectors of the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) in co-operation with the Prague - Ruzyně Customs Office found three shipments of foodstuffs of plant origin, in which laboratory analysis confirmed the presence of a cocktail of up to five pesticide substances in amount above the permitted limit. The total weight of the detected non-compliant foodstuffs is over 540 kg. These foodstuffs originate from Cambodia:
The analysis performed in the CAFIA accredited laboratory confirmed the presence of pesticide residues in the foodstuff in question: omethoate in the amount of 1.5 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg, limit: 0.02 mg/kg), dinotefuran in the amount of 0.087 mg/kg (limit: 0.01 mg/kg), pirimiphos-methyl in the amount of 0.14 mg/kg (limit: 0.02 mg/kg), tolfenpyrad in the amount of 0.039 mg/kg (limit: 0,01 mg/kg), valifenalate in the amount of 0.13 mg/kg (limit: 0.01 mg/kg).
The analysis performed in the CAFIA accredited laboratory confirmed the presence of pesticide residues in the food: fipronil in the amount of 0.014 mg/kg (limit: 0.005 mg/kg), pirimiphos-methyl in the amount of 0.048 mg/kg (limit: 0.02 mg/kg).
The analysis performed in the CAFIA accredited laboratory confirmed the presence of the pesticide residue triazophos in the amount of 2.7 mg/kg (limit: 0.01 mg/kg).
CAFIA inspectors ordered the non-compliant batches to be withdrawn from the market.
CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure with the inspected person to impose a fine.
