Warning to consumers: toast bread contains sharp metal shards

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) warns consumers against following unsafe food lot: DAN CAKE Toast bread wholegrain – sliced toast bread (wheat with whole grain flour), packaged à 500g, best before date by: 20.03.2021, producer: Dan Cake Polonia Sp. z o.o., ul. Transportowców 15, 32-500 Chrzanów, Poland.

Based on the assessment after opening the plastic wrap, the foodstuff was assessed as unsafe as the food contained bigger amount of sharp metal fragments. The inspected person thus violated Art. 14 Para 1 of Reg. No. 178/2002 providing for that a foodstuff must not be placed on the market if it is not safe.

The inspectors found the unsafe foodstuff at the premises of Potraviny ‐ Thi Mai Huong Nguyen, Hovorany and immediately ordered its withdrawal from the market.

With regard to the fact that the foodstuff concerned was made abroad, CAFIA entered the information into the European Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) an enabled thus further investigation in the country of origin.

CAFIA strongly warns consumers who have the food lot in question at home that they do not eat it.

CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the inspected person.
