Warning for consumers: Slices of smoked salmon with Listeria

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) ordered company AHOLD Czech Republic, a.s. to immediately withdraw foodstuff Norwegian smoked salmon, slices packaged à 100g, lot number 08021 with use by date by 11th March 2016, producer Almar Sp.z o o. Koscierska 2, Kartuzy, Poland. The foodstuff shall be withdrawn from all branches of AHOLD. Company Procházka, a.s, Chelčického 627, Roudnice nad Labem was the supplier of the foodstuff in question.

CAFIA laboratory analysis confirmed presence of bacteria Listeria monocytogenes in the given lot. This bacteria causes listeria infection. Selling a foodstuff with bacterial contamination the seller violated applicable legislation as the product failed to comply with safety requirements laid down by Regulation (EC) No. 2073/2005 on microbiological criteria for foodstuffs. CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the seller. The information was entered into the RASFF system.

CAFIA strongly recommends all consumers they do not eat the food lot concerned.
