Still unknown person introduced herself as an inspector of the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (hereinafter “CAFIA” only) in a food retail in Jesenice near Rakovník and wheedled 4.000 CZK out of the businessman. The woman, who was acting under false name Nachtigalová, filled a fine into an income tax document and put a forged stamp with CAFIA data on it. The stamp was completely different from the CAFIA stamp used in reality.
CAFIA strongly warns businessmen that potential fines are imposed only in administrative procedure and inspectors never cash directly during inspections. In addition to that, every inspector has to prove her/his identity by service card and by authorization to carry out the inspectional activity to the inspected person. In case of doubts the identity could be also verified by a phone call to the locally authorized Inspectorate.
