Unsafe egg meal from Poland confirmed in Czech foodstuff

Within the Rapid Alert System for Food (RASFF), CAFIA received information that a foodstuff containing egg meal from illegal production of Polish company Viga Dojutrow1A, Blizanow, Biuro Handlowe Viga G. Jagiello, S. Sadej, ul. Dluga 56, 37-400 Nisko, was distributed to the Czech Republic. The production was banned by Polish inspection authorities because of the serious violation of food law. However, the producer continued with illegal production and that is why contamination with substances are injurious to health cannot be excluded. The presence of Salmonella bacteria in the ingredient – dried eggs was confirmed by laboratory tests.
According to the information currently entered into the RASFF by Polish authorities, company Pekárny a cukrárny Náchod imported a product containing contaminated egg meal from Poland which was subsequently dispatched under designation Suchary diates, 2 x 285 g, the lot 25.7.2012 A to distribution network of MAKRO Cash & Carry ČR s.r.o. According to the order of CAFIA, the product was been withdrawn from distribution network today, however, 472 packages had already been sold. The distributor fully cooperates with CAFIA and informed his wholesale purchasers and also minor purchasers about unwholesomeness of the product by means of SMS. 
On 9 March 2012, Polish media released information about illegal production in the mentioned premises and unwholesomeness of the products. The Polish supervisory authorities thus entered the expected information into the Rapid Alert System with almost 2 months delay.
