The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (hereinafter CAFIA only) found serious violation of hygienic provisions in premises of Tesco Stores ČR seated on Chrudichromská 1352/7 in Boscovice and during its inspection on August 1, 2013 imposed ban on usage of store area. In food warehouse facilities were found plenty of rodents’ excrements especially under pallets, near walls and near platform. Live vital mouse was observed in flour section of the store area.
Rodents’ presence in food store and in facilities is not in compliance with hygienic rules and with Regulation (EC) 852/2004. Premises areas did not comply with the conditions enabling maintenance of food safety. After closing of the premises the operator according to imposed provisions has undertaken general cleaning of the store including shelves and discarding damaged goods. Specialized company has undertaken extermination of rodents. Imposed ban will be lifted after the store operator proves the removal of all Inspection Authority findings. The Inspection Authority will launch an administrative sanction procedure.
This year the CAFIA imposed bans on usage of store area for pests‘presence in 14 cases. Presence of rodents in food retail premises is serious risk for human health for possible transfer of serious illnesses from rodents.
