The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority launched inspection of wine delivered to retail network by Templářské sklepy

12/01/2010

On 29 November 2010, the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority checked whether company Templářské sklepy Čejkovice took the imposed measures. The case of production of quality variety wines and varietal wines of inland provenience of 2009 vintage made from grapes of unknown origin was concerned (CAFIA press release of 16. 11. 2010).

During the verification whether the measures were fulfilled, CAFIA inspectors were not provided by the vine documentation which company Templářské sklepy had been supposed to complete, inter alia, to ensure traceability of the use of grapes of unknown origin. The Inspection Authority further found out that company Templářské sklepy Čejkovice had not dealt with the withdrawal of wine of unknown origin from the retail network as the company had been ordered.

From these reasons, CAFIA launched yesterday a global inspection of the most significant sellers in order to avoid marketing of wine of unknown origin. At the present time, the inspection of retail network is in progress.
